January 2023

1st January 2023
Did you know swimming and water safety is a statutory element of the National Curriculum in England. It is a requirement that all schools provide swimming instruction in either Key Stage One or Key Stage Two.
However, at Keevil we are proud to offer this in EVERY year group. All 7 year groups go swimming for a term every year meaning that by the time they leave us, we hope they are competent and confident in the water. Here is Summer class enjoying their weekly lessons this term.
2023 has got off to a muddy start for Spring Class! Happy Forest Schooling.
Stay and Learn term 3 took place on 27/1/23. Thank you parents for coming in for some time with the children.
Here’s some of our Year 5 and 6 children enjoying this week’s dash and getting a little vitamin D.  Each week they go for a run around the village to get some fresh air, keep fit and most importantly have some fun. Not only does the dash bring some welcomed time out of the classroom but being outdoors is shown to have benefits to our mental health.
Keevil school is proud to announce that we have been selected by Wiltshire Music Connect to become a Music Mark school. This is in recognition of our commitment towards high quality music education. Our children receive weekly music lessons with a specialist, sing together regularly in Worship and have many opportunities to perform to the school and the wider community throughout the year.
Early Years and Key Stage One have had a busy few days. Winter class have been celebrating Chinese New Year and enjoying some well-being time whilst Spring Class have been making mustard sandwiches just like Mrs Grinling from The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch.
