November 1st 2023

Autumn class have been looking at the contrasting musical features in Holst's 'Planet Suite'. This week they were composing in the style of 'Saturn' and 'Venus'.

We LOVE reading at school and on Friday, Spring Class were very excited to visit the Keevil Sharing library! All of the children took new books home to read and to share with others. For those of you who aren’t aware, the sharing library is accessible every day through the gate in Church Lane. We have lots of children’s and adults books for anyone to take- and feel free to drop any that you have finished with into the school office so that we can restock the library for others to enjoy!

As we approach the festive season, it’s important to remember how fortunate we are and to hold our loved ones close.

In school, we are trying to make a small difference in the lives of others who may not be so blessed. With our Christian vision rooted in the parable of the Good Samaritan and the message “Always treat others the way you want to be treated," we are trying to give back to the community this Christmas. A little reminder of the two charity appeals we are running in school is attached.

The finer details for the Reverse Advent Calendar for your child’s class should be coming home this week, so please keep an eye out in bags. The Keevil Councillors have been busy in school helping to remind children about what they can do to make a difference. They have been visiting every class in school to show them some items they could donate to the RUKSAK appeal.

We appreciate that this time of year is full on and are hugely grateful for anything you can give.

Thank you.

Get into the festive spirit and join in with the Keevil Christmas Tree light switch on! Singing, mulled wine and mince pies will be on sale with all donations to Wiltshire Air Ambulance. The Christmas decorations have been made by pupils of the school

Children in Need

There were so many fabulous cakes today, that the judges had a tough time deciding the winners of the Children in Need cake competition…. Congratulation to all of our KS1 and KS2 winners! And yes… they tasted as delicious as they looked.

Wow! What amazing cakes you all made and donated today for our Children in Need cake sale! The children from each class came and looked at the them before deciding which ones to buy at snack time and again, at the after school cake sale. A huge thank you for supporting us and being so generous with your donations… and to the newly appointed Keevil Councillors who did a great job ensuring everyone had bought at cake!

Keevil Councillors have been busy helping with our Children In Need fundraising, they have been helping to organise the cake sale as well as selling the cakes to the children in school on Friday 17th November.

Remembrance Day

Yesterday, to commemorate Remembrance Day, the children remembered those who have died in conflict and war with a 2 minutes silence around the Keevil Village War Memorial.

No doubt you’ve heard all about it…. now you get to see a little bit of the action.

Here are some photos from Pencelli which in summary was a VERY wet week but hopefully also a week full of laughter, challenges and core memories for our year 5 and 6 children. We know you join us with how very proud we are of everything they achieved and how they stepped out of their comfort zones to give new adventures a go.

We are also incredibly grateful for our team who took the children to experience it all. Working extremely long days, making sure the children felt safe and loved whilst away from home.

Keevil School has been selected to be a 'Music Mark' school for the 2nd year running. This is in recognition of our commitment to high quality music education.
